A1: High blood pressure is very common.  If you are aged between 65-84 years old in Hong Kong, the is 57.4% chance that you may have high blood pressure.  High blood pressure may be present without any symptom.  If not controlled well, high blood pressure may lead to coronary heart disease, stroke, kidney impairment, retinopathy and dementia. If you have diabetes mellitus, you should do regular monitoring of blood glucose level to ensure good control.

Q5: What health parameter monitoring can I request?

A5: At present DrPOM’s remote health monitoring platform provides monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, body weight, blood glucose, blood total cholesterol and uric acid.

Q6: How are my devices connected to the internet?

A6: Measurements data are transfer to the app in a mobile device via Bluetooth and the readings are shown in the app.  The app transfers the data to the Cloud server in the internet through cellular connection (sim card) or wifi.    The information is then downloaded to a backend dashboard monitored by our Nurse-led team for immediate action when indicated.

Q7: What do I need to do if I receive an alert message?

A7: There are two levels of alert.  A high alert may indicate a seriously abnormal reading. If you receive a high alert, stay calm, rest for a few minutes and take the measurement again. If the reading is still very high, you may need to seek medical attention.  DrPOM has a service plan that include our nurse-led team calling you to verify the alert and advise you what you need to do.  For low alert, there is no urgency to seek medical attention.  This level of alert is intended to indicate to the client to keep an eye on the measurements trend over the next few days or weeks, and if still consistently and persistently high, may warrant getting a medical assessment.
